Furniture Product Page Design Challenge
Creating an ecommerce webpage for busy shoppers that ensures easy access to purchasing products
Project Type
For a client project
My Role
I was the solo designer throughout the project cycle and received guidance and feedback from my instructor and classmates.
The Challenge / Problem
For this project, I was tasked to create a product that would satisfy a user’s needs and to further analyze analogous features that presented a public crowd-sourcing system. As many purchases are now held online and many people tend to surf the web for products, I felt that it was necessary to focus on the issues surrounding excessive spendings and internet surfing.
For example, users often have trouble choosing the best and most affordable products online and tend to spend too much time searching for the most appropriate and suitable product for their needs.
Hypothesis
Helping budget-conscious students and adults purchase furniture that accurately matches their needs by utilizing crowd-sourcing
Project Summary
This project researches and dives deeper into the analogous feature of selecting a product from the landing page of an e-commerce online store and then purchasing it from checkout. To illustrate my findings, I created a prototype that would best suit a user that had troubles with excessive spending and time spent online. The prototype follows a happy path of the user who is able to successfully accomplish this feature.

RESEARCH
Interviews
I first started off the study with persona interviews regarding the issues surrounding excessive spendings and internet surfing in users. After three interviews, I was able to create a user persona that centered around specificity and accessibility. With this new information and data, I tasked myself to create a product that would satisfy the user’s needs of finding products quickly and easily through the use of different public features.
Website Feature Analogous
I then analyzed some sample e-commerce sites and their features of going from the landing page to checking out the product shown on home page.
Yelp - Public Review System
Shows photos of the real product, not just polished company photos
Quora/Reddit - Public Forums Upvoting allows the user to evaluate the credibility of a reviewers claim
Amazon - Ecommerce Review System
SKETCHING
End-To-End Flow Sketching
Next, I did a few quick flow sketches on how the site may look like. I decided to also take in the mobile version into account and also tried to incorporate new features into the design.
After this, I decided to draw larger, more detailed idea sketches of how the three main screens may look like.

STYLE GUIDE
Mood Boards
I then created a few mood boards to select the palette and appearance of the site. Each board centers around two values that I believe the site should express. After careful insight and thought, I decided to go with "BALANCE" which centered around values of Adventurous and Direct.
WIREFRAME
End-To-End Wireframing
I then translated my sketches into some simple wireframes to draft out the website prototype.
Style Guide
After this, I incorporated the mood board aesthetic and the wireframe elements to establish a style guide for the website.
By using the past drafts and ideas, I created a more finalized prototype of the website. The site encompasses elements of public crowd sourcing, visual additions, and specialized categories.
